Kat Flint, Scottish singer/songwriter, has just released her album “Dirty Birds”, the recording of which was entirely fan-funded. Go faster stripes are racing stripes, and the song is, as her press release tells us, “a tale of impatience, disasters and happy accidents”. She says, “I write lyrics about junkyard prostitutes, life in the fearsome crowd and the fact that your lover is 72.8% water. I was told once that I’m pretty good on guitar ‘for a girl’. I wasn’t sure if that was a compliment. I am an active campaigner against teenage angst and histrionics in music. I quite like train journeys because they’re one of the rare occasions when I can just sit and think.” Her album should be in my mail today. Deutsche Post, don’t let me down.

Oh love, when will you come for me?
I won’t wait for you needlessly
I will be sleeping like the dead
I will be sleeping like the dead

Oh love, will you remember me?
I won’t wait for you endlessly
Or I’ll be waiting with the dead
I’ll be waiting with the dead, I will

And time will never be your kindest master
Sweet love, she’ll always be your new best friend
The best things grow from the worst disasters
The best things grow when we begin again
La la la lala la la la…

And I decided I would never own up
And I decided I would never be shown up
Dreaming and waking and wasted and taking my time
La la la lala la la la
La la la lala la la-a…

Time will never be your kindest master
And love, she greets you like a long-lost friend
The best things grow from the worst disasters
The best things grow when we begin again
La la la lala la la la
La la la lala la la-a…

Ooh… when you move so slow
First you get nowhere then you’ve nowhere to go
And that’s all you need to know
All you need to know

Time will never be your kindest master
Love will never be a lifelong friend
The best things grow from the worst disasters
The best things grow when we begin again
