Good indie music: The Fleet Foxes (die flotten Füchse) who debuted this year with an album that sounds like the Beach Boys jamming with Neil Young and Bill Withers in a trance. “To me, the most enjoyable thing in the world is to sing harmony with people,” Robin Pecknold told NPR. Stunning private session at the Grand Palais, courtesy of La Blogotheque. They make the line “Light up with me, my dear” (= komm’ rauch mit mir, Liebes) sound vaguely Gregorian and definitely like a religious act – fantastic.

Sun Giant

What a life I lead in the summer
What a life I lead in the spring
What a life I lead in the winded breeze

Is a berry watered and plowed

White Winter Hymnal

I was following the pack
all swallowed in their coats
with scarves of red tied ’round their throats
to keep their little heads
from fallin’ in the snow
And I turned ’round and there you go
And, Michael, you would fall
and turn the white snow red as strawberries
in the summertime.
