It’s Labor Day weekend in the States and back to work in earnest for many families with children after the summer break in most parts of the world, now or in the next few weeks. Perhaps you’ve got a lot of things on your plate. But if you look at them, which one stands out most?

  • What do you hope to achieve?
  • Where do you expect the challenges to be?
  • How are you going to measure whether the project is a success?

  1. I want to improve my english in the next months. The challenge will be, to learn after a hard working day. And measuring the results could be done with a test or by comparison of the records.

  2. Lovely 🙂 I think we’ll make lots of recordings of you speaking, ok? Maybe even collaborate on a podcast? Looking forward to it!

  3. Hi Anne,

My project for this fall is to secure a good place for my PhD. I will be in Europe by the next December but I did not receive any final decisions yet but I have got primary acceptances from different places till now. I think it will be Germany because I have got a huge support from a very famous German professor and also I am fond of the German civilization. I am expecting to receive my letter of admission from one of three countries in Europe in the coming weeks so wish me luck. I expect the ordinary problems which I have faced already in Korea as a new culture and as a new environment but I think this time it will be easy for me because I am experienced now. I am sure that I will succeed in Europe as I have succeeded in Korea. Thank you very much and have a good day.

  4. Good luck, Hassan! Where are you from originally?

I’m going to take this comment to post my own new projects for September/October/November, as well.
    They are:
    1. One to one teaching – developing a teacher training seminar (perhaps my favorite challenge in this list)
    2. Trying out online tools with college students in an intensive course on academic writing
    3. Creating an online syllabus of advanced grammar exercises in Moodle (for college students)
    4. Writing a comprehensive article on learning online (very urgent)
    5. Developing a new business writing seminar for Management Circle

These are on top of my regular schedule of writing, teaching and translating jobs (including new acquisitions).

    And in my private life:
    1. Helping my mother move from assisted living into a group house with nursing care (the most important project)
    2. Keeping up my sports activities and eating no more than I need

    Never a dull moment!

  5. Hi Anne,

I am Egyptian. I can help you in your project and my advice is that, practice is the most important thing in any kind of education so listening to songs with lyrics and watching movies with titles are two much effective tools for learning english. I will post two beautiful songs to clarify my vision …….

Also, I salute your feelings towards your mother.
You are a great kind human.

    Thanks.
