You’re gonna miss me
I’ve got my ticket for the long way round
Two bottles of whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
when I’m leaving tomorrow – What d’ya say?
When I’m gone, when I’m gone
When I’m gone, when I’m gone
You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone
You’re gonna miss me by my hair
You’re gonna miss me everywhere
Oh I know you’re gonna miss when I’m gone
I’ve got my ticket for the long way round
No one but the prettiest of you/ view
The one with the prettiest views
It’s got mountains it’s got rivers
It’s got sex it’ll give you shivvers
Its got sites (should be woods) ‘ll give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you
When I’m gone, when I’m gone
When I’m gone, when I’m gone
You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone
You’re gonna miss me by my hair
You’re gonna miss me everywhere
You’re gonna miss when I’m gone
When I’m gone, when I’m gone
When I’m gone, when I’m gone
You’re gonna miss me when I’m gone
You’re gonna miss me by my walk
You’re gonna miss me by my talk
You’re gonna miss when I’m gone
PS: I misheard some of these lyrics, but Lulu has sent her version in the comments below – Thank you!!

song of the week
englisch lernen mit liedern

Hi Anne,
That’d be a good way to end a course, don’t you think?
And one could get the whole group involved.
I’ll start practising now …
Thanks for the input.

Hi Joan
Anne
Great idea. Maybe figure out some extra rhymes, too: miss me by my books/ miss the way I cook (a cozy course that met at someone’s place for dinner) … miss the games we played/ miss what was delayed (for a business course that was too much fun) …

Ciao everybody! =)
I’m Dario, from Italy. I’m a beginner (very very very beginner) harmonica player… well, apprentice… ^__^
And I’m in love with this song!
I wish to learn it on my harmonica so that I can play it, as a special gift for a friend that I really love.
Do you know the notes for it? Would you please share them with me, if possible?
That would be wonderful. =)
Thank you for your time reading me and thanks Anne for hosting my message. =)
Love and peace,
.d =)

Welcome, Dario
This song was originally sung by the Carter Family in this bluegrass version. I couldn’t find the notes, but here at least are the chords:
You’re gonna [A]miss when I’m gone,
you’re gonna [D]miss when I’m [A]gone,
oh, I know you will miss when I’m [E]gone.
You’re gonna [A]miss me by my walk,
you’re gonna [D]miss me by my [A]talk,
oh, I know you will [E]miss when I’m [A]gone.
CHORUS
When I’m [D]gone (when I’m gone), when I’m [A]gone (when I’m gone),
oh, I know you will miss when I’m [E]gone !
When I’m [D]gone (when I’m gone), when I’m [A]gone (when I’m gone),
oh, I know you will [E]miss when I’m [A]gone !
You’re gonna miss me by my prayers,
you’re gonna miss me everywhere,
oh, I know you will miss when I’m gone.
You’re gonna miss me by my song,
you’re gonna miss me all day long,
oh, I know you will miss when I’m gone. + CHORUS
You’re gonna miss me by my ways,
you’re gonna miss me every day,
oh, I know you will miss when I’m gone.
You’re gonna miss me by my song,
you’re gonna miss me all day long,
oh, I know you will miss when I’m gone. + CHORUS

Hi Jordan, you’re not alone, this is a very special kind of hit. It really sticks with you, so it reminds me a little of “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin, which became a huge a capella hit in 1988.

Dear Lulu,
Thank you so much for this! Your song is really great, and here’s wishing you loads of fans. Do come to Munich, please.
So it’s sites or woods.
Ok, Joan, Dario, Jordan, it’s over to you.
