Exactly, it’s the world according to Newsweek. But it’s really quite hard to collect impressions of the social, political, economical, cultural highlights and low points on a global scale. Here are a few more I’d add, looking at the whole world, but from my perch here in Munich:

7. 2006: Germany hosts the World Cup, introduces the practice of “public viewing” to the world and gains a positive self-image
8. 2006: The TED Talks go online at http://www.TED.com and boost the quality of the Internet overnight
