A silverado pairing, surely. Black Dub is Daniel Lanois (songwriter, producer for U2 and Dylan and others) and Trixie Whitley, she of the big, fat voice. Touching, intimate songs like Surely, a reincarnation of Amazing Grace, and funky, jazzy stuff. Got tickets for Berlin on 29 July. Coming?
I think a Silverado is a type of Chevy so I imagine them cruising in a silver-colored one. Have you seen the film of the same name? But my immediate association with the shimmering silvery theme remains: Hi-ho, Silver!
PS: Have just watched the intro again and Daniel Lanois talks about riding morotcycles with his brother. So it’s Silverado motorcycles.

Surely
by Daniel Lanois
If he refuses I’d still go on
Till the heaven and earth are gone
Time may rage but rage in vain
My designs unchanged will remain

The night is my shepherd, the moonlight is my guide
You were close by, now the distance is so wide
You found me blind, you taught me how to see
Now it’s so hard to have you away from me

Surely you were meant to be mine
Surely you were meant to be mine

You command my hand to write
In the dark hours of deep midnight
Your love is a love, a love like no other
The wings of joy forever flutter

Surely you were meant to be mine
Surely you were meant to be mine

Fortune favors the brave they say
But my bravery could not convince me to stay

If he refuses I’d still go on
Till the heaven and earth are gone
Fortune favors the brave they say
My bravery could not convince me to stay

Surely you were meant to be mine
Surely you were meant to be mine

Silverado
by Daniel Lanois

Black ice was everywhere
At every corner but we didn’t care
Silveradi, silver nights, on Silverado
The laughter would not quit
It really felt like it was it
Silveradi, silver nights, on Silverado

The depth of the dream we fell in
Not for any tongue to speak in
Ah, yes, it’s all right to see
The light to eternal land
Silveradi, silver nights, with you, Silverado

Sweet empire time
Before the bomb burned out the rhyme
Silveradi, silver nights, on Silverado
The fever was so strong
And the nights were never wrong
Silveradi, silver nights, on Silverado

No worries came to mind
We blazed it, knew no time
Drunk on a silver moon
Singing out their own tune
Silveradi, silver nights with my Silverado

(The room was hell on fire
As the engines were desire
Oh, the nights of the silver needle, Silverado)
Til it finally dawned on me
Like the pounding of the sea
Those silver nights had slowly faded on Silverado

Don’t stand in the cold for too long
We want you staying strong
Don’t walk the plank for your song
Going to miss you when you’re gone
Silveradi, silver nights, with you Silverado

It finally dawned on me
Like the pounding of the sea
Those silver nights were slowly fading Don’t walk the plank for your song
Going to miss you when you’re gone
Silveradi, silver nights, with my Silverado
Silveradi, silver nights, with my Silverado
Silveradi, silver nights, oh Silverado
