Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson (Rourke) is a pro wrestler who has spent decades slicing himself open in choreographed fights while adoring crowds roar. When a heart attack forces him to retire and reconsider his life, he strikes up a romance with an aging stripper and does his best to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Yet all this cannot compare to the allure of the ring, which threatens to pull Randy back into his world of wrestling. Director Darren Aronofsky (»The Fountain«) presents a powerful portrait of a battered dreamer, who despite himself and the odds stacked against him, lives to be a hero once again in the only place he considers home – inside the ring. In film with pungent direction and writing, and a truly stunning performance from Rourke in a role of a lifetime.

I have to see this film. Wir gehen, Cinema, Dienstag, 24.02., 20.05! Wer geht mit? 🙂
