“White man came across the sea…” and cured them of their misery. It was a nice bit of news for a rainy day: Bruce Dickinson, lead singer for Iron Maiden, has a day job as a commercial pilot and is one of the pilots who picked up vacationing tourists after their tour operator XL Leisure went bankrupt, and flew them home to England. He has to take time off work to tour with the band, which does explain his hairstyle. His other talents include being a radio and TV host, DJ, historian, fencer, producer, and songwriter. Wow. OK, enough blathering. Here is Iron Maiden at Rock in Rio with “Run to the Hills“.
White man came across the sea
He brought us pain and misery
He killed our tribes, he killed our Cree
He took our game for his own need
We fought him hard we fought him well
Out on the plains we gave him hell
But many came too much for Cree
Oh will we ever be set free?
Riding through dust clouds and barren wastes
Galloping hard on the plains
Chasing the redskins back to their holes
Fighting them at their own game
Murder for freedom a stab in the back
Women and children and cowards attack
Run to the hills, run for your lives
Soldier blue on the barren wastes
Hunting and killing’s their game
Raping the women and wasting the men
The only good indians are tame
Selling them whisky and taking their gold
Enslaving the young and destroying the old

nice song – Iron Maiden rocks!!
🙂 I read he got his pilot license because he was worried he wouldn’t be able to live off being a singer with the band. These stars are just regular guys.
