The members of this band, originally from Baltimore, love horror films and head trips, and they’ve got some music that gives me a headache. But then there’s this soaring, let’s-build-a-simple-home-for-our-children song. The lyrics don’t really make much sense, after all, “status” isn’t a material thing. Or am I being picky? Um, and “slats” rhyme with “status”? Since when? Never mind. Their visuals, their “Fleet Foxes go electronic” sound and their whooping calls more than make up for it. Also listen to Summertime Clothes and Brothersport (live!).
PS: Unfortunately the original HD video has been taken down.
There isn’t much that I feel I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
But with a little girl, and by my spouse,
I only want a proper house
I don’t care for fancy things
Or to take part in the freshest wave,
But to provide for mine who ask
I will, with heart, on my father’s grave
On my father’s grave
(On your father’s grave)
I don’t mean to seem like I
Care about material things,
Like a social status,
I just want
Four walls and adobe slats
For my girls

i hadn’t seen this video or heard this song, this is really cool. if you haven’t heard the cd “person pitch” by panda bear (the guy who sings on this song) you should probably check it out, it’s a couple years old but it’s really quite good…
Thanks for the tip, Nicky, “Bros” is great!
Am just listening to the just released “Fall Be Kind”, nice to dream by.
